Tidbits [1]

So here is the first installment of the list of 30 tidbits I'm going to start tackling.

5 Ways to Win my Heart

There are a lot of important relationship qualities, but here are a few that has more to do with the winning of the heart.

1. Thoughtfulness. It's the little things that mean the most. Truly.
2. Resolution. Work together to resolve conflict without hurting feelings. Forgive and ask forgiveness. If a disagreement can end through non aggressive conversation, there is a lot to be said about how each opposing part cares for the other.
3. Respect & Admiration. If you don't respect each other, you can't selflessly love one another. Be proud of each other's achievements and admire the good in each other. And if you think it, say it. Don't be too proud to share real feelings.
4. Affection. I'll admit it, I'm a touchy-feely kind of person. Hugs, being close, holding hands, gentle kisses. They all make my heart flutter.
5. Humility. Pride is probably the most unattractive trait, so the ability to be humble is important. It says a lot about the character of a person's heart.

What are some of the things that win you over? Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!

with a week to go.

So the mister surprised me and drove up here Monday night to stay for the week. He thought he was so sneaky, telling me he had a meeting until 7pm. Evidently he actually got off around 3 and drove up here, stopped to buy me wine and People (I have a slight obsession with the magazine), AND groceries. I am one lucky lady. Seriously. Love that guy. (Hi dear!)I had orientation on Tuesday with my current class starting in the Communication Sciences and Disorders graduate coursework. It was very informative and helpful, but also intimidating because most everyone already has a background in the field, unlike me. Luckily my 2nd year "buddy" was in the same boat as me last year and had a lot of useful advice and insight.

Yesterday, the mister and I had a relaxing, lazy day. We got up and went to the rec center on campus to get in a workout and a run. I was glad to go for the first time with him so I had someone to explore the place with instead of looking lost. We also had to drive out to a town about 30 minutes away to apply (again) for a replacement social security card. I requested one a month ago and it got lost in the mail so i'm crossing my fingers this time. We spent the evening watching movies and playing Call of Duty.

Since I'm on a budget, I currently don't have any type of TV service. And also my TV is tiny. So low and behold, I look in the back of the mister's car and see none other than his big TV and PlayStation3. Hey, whatever it takes to make him feel at home this week. lol

Today, I have one more orientation for the Graduate School in general before school starts on Monday. Tomorrow we might venture into Asheville for a little exploring and day of fun. Neither of us are too familiar with the city.

But in more exciting news, I told the mister was a VLOG was and I may just make one with him as a special guest. I hope everyone's week is going well!

the time the mister found my blog.

Yall, the mister just spent the past two hours on the internet trying to search for my blog. Because I share my name with celebrity, searching my name didn't help. He seriously was googling variations of my name + blog. He thought he would find me. He also tried to search a blog database. Then, because I talk to him about you bloggers and blogs, he was trying to remember the name of different bloggers I mention, specifically Mandy at Harper's Happeningsbecause I make him watch Harper's videos and agree with me about how adorable she is.
He searched high and low, googling different email addresses I have, using months of previous facebook posts and using ctrl+f to search for anytime the word "blog" was used in hopes that I linked my blog at one point or another...
Then he remembered me mentioning that I won the blog giveaway at DearCarter and I wouldn't tell him the name of it because he could then obviously find me. But then he logged on twitter and saw my tweet reply to Diana about the giveaway which led him to her site, which I follow. So under the followers through google connect, he was looking for me in those tiny pictures. (The mister is unrelenting, he seriously would not give up.) He found one named Lauryn and thought I was trying to be slick and hide. (I wasn't btw. That one wasn't me.) Then the game was up. He found me. I felt so defeated, he won!
(This is his famous "blowing out the smoking gun" act that he does when he feels like he won or did something really great at my expense.)

The mister knew I had a blog from the beginning, but I was nervous about charting these waters and didn't want him watching. You know what I mean? Like if you are trying to do something difficult for the first time, people watching is embarrassing. Do you feel me?
I have to say though, the whole debacle was pretty hilarious because we were on the phone the whole time and I couldn't tell how close he was getting to finding me. I've got a smart one on my hands!
That's all for now, but stay tuned for a little prettying up around these parts :-) Have a wonderful day!
