My hair and I have a love/hate relationship. For my whole life I had it long, and then, on a whim, I CHOPPED IT ALL OFF. We're talking short here people. It took forever to grow it back out. I would try for a few months and get so fed up with the awkwardness of the cut that I would go short again. But I finally stuck it out. I also stopped dying my hair (per the request of Terence, but also because I couldn't stand having to redye it every 6 weeks). Here's how it went down:
Shortest.

Short.

Medium.

Long (and my natural color).

I still like having darker hair over my natural color, but let's face it. I can't keep up with the color maintenance on a grad school student's budget. Wah-wah, it's not the end of the world.
But in the meantime, I've been experimenting with different styles I can rock with this long hair. I'm not saying I'm not due for a little trimmy trim, because believe me, I am! But I came across a hair tutorial for this and gave it a try. I really like it as a way to keep my hair off my neck in this hot 100 degree South Carolina weather!
Side braid into a twisted bun.

What do you guys think? Do you have any of your own favorite "get this hair up, NOW" styles? (Can we also please ignore how awkwardly un-photogenic I am. Thanks!)
Lauren
LOVE the look!!
ReplyDeletethanks!! do you have any go-to do's?
ReplyDeleteI really like the hair-do. I understand the frustration of growing it out. I've shaved it all off a couple times and it takes forever to get to a non-awkward spot.
ReplyDeleteI am currently going through the "I hate my hair" phase. Last November I chopped off most of my hair... & I'm trying to grow it out again.
ReplyDeleteps I love the side braid-bun! uber cute.
